William Shakespeare said, “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet,” meaning that it doesn’t matter what something is called, only what something is. In marketing, this often holds true, as history shows us time and time again.
In our own lifetime we have seen some amazingly popular brands attach their names to some really bad product launches that provide us Virtual Assistants and online business owners with some pretty powerful lessons on what not to do.
For starters, you may have noticed the clothing retailer Gap’s recent attempt to update their image. On October 6, 2010, they debuted a new logo on their website and did away with the blue box that had become synonymous with their brand. Through

Prosperity Prosperity Project
If there’s ever a perfect time to study prosperity it must be now. With the economy crumbling round our ears and the old ways of making a living no longer viable there’s never been a better time to get serious about your prosperity.
I’ve been a student of prosperity for several years now but at the end of the Summer I decided to get really focussed and serious about practicing prosperity.
How does one practice prosperity?
Well I already started tithing a while back. That seems to be one of the main ‘commandments’ that all the prosperity masters agree on.
I’ve been reading personal development books and listening to audio or video every day for many years so what else could I do to really up my prosperity game? I wondered.

Cloud Computing Computing
I attended two presentations this week from two very different speakers on two different topics but heard a common message in both. Cloud computing is on the rise and here to stay!
The first speaker was Lee Spelman, a managing director of JP Morgan Asset Management. Her talk was on the economic outlook and investment strategies. Her personal expertise is in the technology sector and she recommended companies building cloud computing solutions are a good investment. She noted that non-technology companies should not have to be technology experts to use technology. Cloud computing allows users to have less hardware and infrastructure locally, instead accessing what they need via a cloud.
The second speaker was Michael Hugos, author of Business Agility: Sustainable Prosperity in a Relentlessly Competitive World, during the IIBA Books, Authors webinar series. Mich

Personal Personal Statements
I know you’re sitting down right now, trying to write the most brilliant, persuasive, powerful personal statement ever written but your fingers are paralyzed on the keys. “I hate to write about myself,” some tell me. Others say, “my life has been pretty boring/sheltered/standard/privileged.” Still others say, “I went through hard times but I don’t want to write a a sob story.” How do you hit the perfect compromise and create a personal statement you can be proud of?
I dedicate a lot of space to this in my book, but here are a few ideas to get you started on brainstorming topics to address:
1. It’s very hard to go back to the drawing board after writing an intro and conclusion, so just start writing your ideas down and sharing your stories and experiences. Start writing lik

Lsat Lsat Should
Breathe deeply. LSAT day will arrive no matter what you do. A lot of your success in the next 5 days is mind over matter. Will you let the LSAT get to you, or are you excited to prove what you can do and show off all of your hard work preparing for it?
Here’s a helpful article by my friends at BlueprintPrep about what to do this week to prepare for the LSAT.
Here’s a link to one of my favorite Law School Expert Blog Talk Radio Shows about Last Minute Tips for LSAT Takers. You can listen to it online or download it from iTunes under Blog Talk Radio Feed – Ann Levine (or something like that).
In my law school admission consulting business, October is the month when most people sign up to work with me. So don’t feel you’re behind the curve. Do what y

Network Social Network
There’s a lot of talk going on about Facebook these days, from the massive outage on September 23 to the new movie, The Social Network, coming out on October 1, a story about the founders and origins of Facebook.
Biographies are intriguing, and for Virtual Assistants and Online Professionals involved in Social Media, this movie is particularly compelling. We’re advised to take it with a grain of salt, though, because there’s a bit of controversy brewing about whether or not the movie gets the facts straight.
According to a blog post on AllFacebook.com, most people don’t know the movie is based on a fictionalized and sensationalized story about the founding of Facebook as described by Eduardo Saverin, one of the initial co-founders. This st
