37 states and counting to compete for Race to the Top funds
Nearly 40 governors – including Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper – have expressed intent to apply for another federal Race to the Top funding challenge.
As of this week, 37 governors have said they would be submitting applications in coming months for the Department of Education’s Race to the Top – Early Learning Challenge.
The Department of Education will work with the Department of Health and Human Services to distribute $500 million in grant funds to states that develop plans and reforms that will raise the quality of early learning programs.
While Colorado was a finalist for another Race to the Top grant competition, the state lost out last year.
