Teacher Appreciation Night is presented by the Sacramento River Cats in partnership with the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE), coordinator of the annual Teachers of the Year program in Sacramento County.

Teacher Appreciation Night festivities include a pre-game Teachers of the Year recognition, which takes place around 6:30 p.m. near home plate.  Singing the national anthem will be students from Thomas Edison Elementary School.  The ceremonial “first pitch” will be thrown by Sacramento County 2011 Teachers of the Year Shannan Brown and Kadhir Rajagopal, who also represent the state as California Teachers of the Year.

In addition to being Teacher Appreciation Night, May 2 is a “Seniors Eat Free” promotional night at Raley Field for members of the Silver Cats Club (60+ years). It is also one of the River Cats’ popular Baseball Bingo nights. The River Cats, a Triple-A baseball affiliate of the Oakland As, will be playing the Salt Lake Bees (a Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim).
